Welcome from the President |
Today more than ever, chiropractic is a dynamic area of health care. Chiropractic is steadily expanding its role in the health care delivery system, and UWS is on the leading edge of that expansion.
The integration of chiropractic into other health-care arenas is being driven by patient and consumer demand, and current changes in federal and state laws reflect this attitude. The recent federal legislation concerning the Veterans Administration will assist our efforts to provide additional opportunities for students to learn in hospital settings.
If you have already decided that chiropractic is to be your profession, your next and most important decision is which chiropractic college to attend. UWS is your best choice for a number of reasons:
- UWS has been a leader in evidence-based chiropractic care, and has long encouraged an integrated approach to health care. The vision that established those directions is now being realized, and our graduates will be prepared to successfully join and lead the profession in the 21st century.
- UWS is well known as a leader in chiropractic education. This is evident in UWS students' consistently high performance on both U.S. and Canadian National Board examinations and in WSCC graduates' success in practice.
- UWS offers an educational experience in keeping with the curriculum of other health science professions. We support a concept of working with other health professionals as a vital and increasingly valued solution to many patient health problems.
- Because UWS graduates are expertly prepared to work in integrated care settings and to provide the highest quality patient care, they are the most likely to succeed in this new environment.
- Our technique and diagnosis labs average approximately seven students to every one instructor (7:1). This kind of low student-faculty ratio assures you will confidently enter the chiropractic profession after graduation, prepared to provide the best treatment for your patients.
- UWS is a pioneer in chiropractic research, and was the first chiropractic college ever to receive a federally-funded research grant through HRSA (the Health Resources & Services Administration -- a division of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services).
- Our state-of-the-art lecture facilities offer students an interactive, engaging educational experience which enhances learning.
- WSCC will prepare you to fill the rapidly evolving role of the chiropractic physician. I invite you to become part of our vision of chiropractic's growth and a future of serving patients in need of our unique healing art and science. We welcome you to peruse our web site and visit our campus. And, when you do, please stop by my office and introduce yourself, or simply send an email to ThePresident@uws.edu. I would like very much to meet you and to share with you my experiences as a practitioner for over 20 years.
