Student Government

Officers are elected each May to serve a one-year term. Positions include president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, events coordinator, and sports coordinator. Each class also elects a representative each year. As a student body officer or class representative, you can give a proactive voice to student concerns as well as communicate the College's vision and mission to your fellow students. The editor of our student newspaper, The Axis, is hired by the student government on an application basis.

Student Clubs

With many clubs available on campus, there's an organization to meet almost every interest and need. Students are encouraged to get the very most from their education by participating in extracurricular organizations. If there isn't a club to suit your needs, students are encouraged to create one.

Recreation/Intramural sports
Whether it's teeing up a golf ball or hitting the slopes, you'll find a group of students ready to take advantage of the many recreational opportunities on campus and near Portland. Intramural teams range from soccer to basketball with opportunities to meet year-round. Volleyball and basketball games are held in the College's gymnasium throughout the year. A 36-hole golf course is within a half-mile of campus.

Because of the rigorous education at WSCC, students find that a commitment to exercise is a helpful way to combat stress and optimize their academic performance. Our students can take advantage of a deal we have made with Nelson's Nautilus or Bally's Total Fitness. The discounted price also applies to staff, faculty, and significant others.

Special Events

After a healthy dose of studying, students are ready to take part in a variety of campus activities.

Annual events include a Chili Cook-Off, Halloween party, Holiday Gala, Barbecue Booksale, and talent show. Student volunteers are an integral part of making these events a campus-wide success. They work closely with the Director of Student Services to plan events and activities that represent students' wide range of interests.
